Written by DJ McAneny

Stamford police issued Thursday evening a warning to the public and authorities outside the city about a wanted fugitive they believe to be armed and dangerous.

According to Lt. Diedrich Hohn, 20-year-old Michael O'Neil McFarlane, also known as "Murdah," was involved in a June 25, 2013, shooting incident that occurred on Richmond Hill Avenue.

Hohn said McFarlane attempted to roba victim and, when the victim fought back, McFarlane pulled out a firearm and began shooting, striking the victim twice. A stray bullet from that volley also struck a car with a small child inside, he said. The victim survived the altercation and identified McFarlane as the shooter, Hohn said.

McFarlane has been charged with first-degree assault, criminal attempt at first-degree robbery and first-degree reckless endangerment. The court system has levied a $250,000 bond against him.

McFarlane has an additional warrant for his arrest in which he is charged with second-degree assault for allegedly pistol-whipping a female acquaintance at Hatch Park.

He is also being considered a Person of Interest in the attempted shooting of a Stamford police officer on Taylor Street on June 29, 2013, Hohn said.

The suspect is described as a black male standing approximately 5-feet, 11-inches, weighing 150 pounds with a dark complexion. He is considered armed and dangerous. He is known to have ties to the Stamford and Norwalk area, Hohn said.

If McFarlane is seen or arrested, Stamford Police request to be notified immediately at 203.977.4417
