Five Letters Support Kieburtz for Board of Ed

Geoff Kieburtz, a Republican running for Board of Education in District E, has "made it a point to speak with every principal in Norwalk," according to one of five letters to the editor receintly sent in to support him.

To the editor:

I write to offer my strong endorsement of Geoff Kieburtz for the Norwalk Board of Education.

As a recently retired teacher, I have had the privilege of teaching children for 33 years. It has been my policy to monitor the choices and decisions of the Norwalk Board of Education because each and every choice and decision they make directly affects our most precious resource of the present as well as the future—our children.

The last few years have left me angry and frustrated by the behavior and actions of the present Board. Geoff is a breath of fresh air.  He cares about your children's education and the professional teachers and staff who work tirelessly every day for each and every child in their care.  He will not only be an engaged listener but one who will work for your children and their education.

I was impressed to learn that Geoff has made it a point to speak with every principal in Norwalk.  He willingly met with teachers in my home to further understand their responsibilities in the classroom.

Geoff is a candidate who truly cares about your children, their education, and future.   I am confident that Geoff will be an outstanding member of the Norwalk Board of Education.

To the editor:

I write in support of Geoff Kieburtz for Board of Education.  I have known Geoff for over 10 years as business colleagues and neighbors.  He is a focused, independent thinker and a good listener who, as a community leader and father of two in the Norwalk school system, is deeply familiar with its strengths and challenges.

As a new officeholder in Norwalk, Geoff would bring with him a set of qualifications forged by his global private sector experience and long-time interest in education and educational improvement.

We are fortunate to have someone of Geoff’s experience and integrity running for this position and I hope you will join me in supporting his candidacy next week.

To the editor:

As a 13-year resident of Norwalk, and parent of two young children, I declare my support of Geoff Kiebertz for the District E Board of Education representative.  I first met Geoff through community activities, and his sportsman-like conduct left a lasting first impression.  Over the years I have come to know him as being honest, forthright and ethical.  He recognizes the importance of a solid education as the foundation for a productive and successful future.

Geoff's community- and responsibility-oriented approach to investment in Norwalk's schools will help drive a higher quality education for all Norwalk students.  This approach is based in experience—having had two children graduate from Norwalk Public Schools, extensive participation in family, school and community organizations, and practical analytical and management skills.

Support Geoff Kieburtz and ensure a quality education for our students and the acceleration of the needed changes in Norwalk Public Schools.

Friends, and fellow Norwalk residents:

We have a great opportunity for the residents of Norwalk and that is to elect Geoff Kieburtz to the Norwalk Board of Education. Geoff's background speaks for itself. In brief, he graduated from Stanford with a mechanical engineering degree where he played varsity football and later went on to Yale and received a Masters Degree in public and private management. Professionally he is highly regarded as one of the top equity analysts in his field.

He has first hand experience with the Norwalk school district. Geoff has two children that have been through the Norwalk school system, and his youngest is now a sophomore in college.  Both children enjoyed their educational experience here in Norwalk;  Geoff would like to contribute back to the system so our children will be better prepared for their future.

Geoff understands the issues we face locally, nationally, and globally that affect our schools. He has the knowledge and leadership skills to make for a brighter future for our children. One of the biggest considerations a parent makes when settling down is "How are the schools?" and Geoff understands that.

Our country's schools are not keeping up with the rest of the world, and our rankings reflect that. We need the kind of leader that understands the broad array of issues that we have in today's world, and Geoff brings that special leadership to the table.

Geoff's educational background, professional and personal experience makes him a great advocate for us. My wife, Lynn and I have a six-year-old daughter in First grade at Rowayton Elementary School, Geoff would be a great advocate for our daughter and Norwalk!

Geoff is an upstanding citizen in our community and I encourage you to get to know him better. http://www.gkboe.com/index.html is a good place to start.

Please get out and vote and tell your fellow residents of Norwalk, friends and family to support Geoff Kieburtz.

Steven and Lynn Blank endorse Geoff Kieburtz for Norwalk Board of Education!

To the editor:

The qualities we look for in a Board of Education candidate are fairly clear.  We need someone who is focused, intelligent, non-partisan, willing to work and not looking for personal gain. Those qualities are embodied 100% by Geoff Kieburtz.  Geoff decided to run for the BOE after he had completed 22 years of being the parent of a student in Norwalk Schools.  22 years of budget meetings, long discussions and a leadership role among the parents of his children’s peers.

Nothing has stopped him since.  His singular focus has been on engaging with parents, principals and city officials to take his passion for the Norwalk School System to the next level.  If you haven’t spoken with Geoff over the last few months (and that can only be because you weren’t home when he came calling) you know that he has consumed a vast amount of information on our school system and the national educational debate.  He brings an analytical mind and a keen intellect to bear on the situation.

This is the one and only office Geoff will ever run for.  He is singularly committed to doing this one thing and doing it well.  One Man, One Office, and One Reason … the betterment of the Norwalk School System.

Geoff has engaged with not only the principals and superintendent, but he has also formed a team with the other candidates for BOE this year and some of the incumbents.  Their motto rings true to me.  Engage, Empower, Educate.  They want to ensure that parents are engaged always in the process and respected, that teachers are empowered to make bold choices for excellence and that all are educated in a first class system.

Geoff has written about his positive ideas for how to make the school system better and will continue to do so.  He will not retreat from controversy, but he will listen to all sides.  His commitment is staggering.  You have a choice when you enter the voting booth and that choice is clear.  Say no to political games and yes to a parent filled with the same passion and commitment as you, Vote for Geoff Kieburtz.
