English Bulldog Puppy Nabbed From Norwalk Pet Store

A Brooklyn, N.Y., man came into Puppies of Westport with his son at about 11:30 a.m. on Monday and said he wanted to buy the 12-week-old champion bulldog, then fled with it as his credit card was being verified, according to a report in the CT Post.

A worth $3,700 was reportedly stolen from pet store on Monday.

According to a report in the CT Post, a Brooklyn, N.Y., man came into on Westport Avenue with his son at about 11:30 a.m. and said he wanted to buy the 12-week-old champion bulldog. The man reportedly used an American Express card to make the purchase, but the shop owner reportedly became suspicious when the card's magnetic strip didn't work, forcing him to enter the numbers manually.

While the store owner was verifying the card, the man grabbed the dog and fled in his vehicle, according to the report. The shop owner told police the man nearly ran over one of his employees when he tried to stop him, according to the report.

Puppies of Westport staff reportedly managed to get the license plate number on the man's car — but the plate came back as having been recently stolen from another vehicle at a Home Depot store in Bridgeport.
