Dump Truck Thieves Arrested After Big Haul

Norwalk Police arrest three individuals in connection with December 4 robbery.

Norwalk Police arrested three individuals on Monday night in connection with a robbery where the suspects were allegedly going to use a dump truck as a getaway vehicle.

According to Norwalk Police Lieutenant Timothy Murphy, two detectives were in the the area of Bouton and Oak Streets at around 9:40 p.m. on December 4 when they noticed two people carrying items down Oak Street. At the same time, the detectives observed a white dump truck driving around the neighborhood. Murphy said the detectives felt that it was "odd that a dump truck was in an area where there was no active construction going on."

The police report stated the detectives attempted to stop the dump truck but it fled the area when the driver spotted the detectives approaching him. At approximately the same time, the detectives noticed two males allegedly dropping several items they were carrying, which turned out to be a flat screen television, several video games, small speakers, a GPS, and a few other unidentified accessories. The two suspects then fled the scene. Upon investigation, the detectives learned that a home on Oak Street had just been burglarized. According to Murphy, the total value of the items was approximately $1,000.
