Drunk Driving Checkpoint In Norwalk Saturday

Start of campaign up to Memorial Day to locate intoxicated drivers.

Norwalk Police will set up a checkpoint Saturday to identify intoxicated drivers. The operation will occur on West Avenue.

The checkpoint is being paid for by a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Safety Program. Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Cotto said a provision of the grant is that the public be informed ahead of time when and where the checkpoint will be located.

In the past, police have established checkpoints on West Avenue between the Interstate 95 overpass and Reed Street.
