Cops Spot Unoccupied Car, Doors Open, Marijuana and Handgun Inside
Officers on anti-crime patrol at South Norwalk housing project encounter suspicious vehicle.
Officers on an anti-crime patrol located a suspicious car Sunday night at a South Norwalk housing complex that contained marijuana and a handgun.
The officers were patrolling 100 San Vincenzo Pl., a project of townhouse condominiums for low to moderate income families, when they spotted a car stopped in the parking lot. When they approached the car -- a 1994 Volvo 850 -- they found it unoccupied, with both the driver's and passenger's door open.
When they went to open the glove compartment to look for the car's registration, they reported finding wrappers and bits of marijuana leaves scattered across the floor.

They reported pushing down on the trunk lid, which caused it to pop open. Inside the trunk was a black, .22-caliber double-shot handgun. Inside the car they found ammunition.
The officers did not report who the car's registered owner is, but said they would continue to investigate why was left at San Vincenzo Place.
