Cops: Shoplifting Bag in One Hand, Stroller in the Other
Two men were arrested on charges of shoplifting clothing worth $3,650 from the Kohl's store on Connecticut Avenue on Monday afternoon.
One had a marijuana cigarette on him; the other, a stroller with a three-year-old.
Here's how it happened, according to a Norwalk police report (an accusation not proven in court):
A store detective stopped Dushan Pierce, 33, of Bridgeport and Tirrell Jones, 39, of Norwalk as they were leaving the store at 500 Connecticut Ave.
Each man was carrying a bag lined on the inside with aluminum foil and Levi's jeans. One of the bags also had Levi's brand T-shirts in it.
Jones, of Ingleside Avenue in Norwalk, was also pushing a stroller with a child, almost three years old, in it.
When police arrived, they patted down both men and found Pierce had three small clear plastic bags containing a small amount of marijuana. Pierce was charged with possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.
Jones was charged with risk of injury to a child and second-degree failure to appear in court. Each man also was charged with third-degree larceny. Jones was initially held in lieu of $7,500 bond; Pierce was initially held in lieu of $5,000 bond. Each is scheduled to appear Oct. 9 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
