Cops: Man Broke off a Home's Back Door

A 24-year-old Norwalk man broke a back door off its hinges and broke a window of the same home late Saturday evening after throwing rocks at the residence on Riverside Avenue.

Norwalk police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of the incident:

Police were called to the scene at 11:39 p.m. by the resident, a woman who told police she knew but had never been a girlfriend of Anibal Martinez of Laura Street, who was causing the disturbance.

Police said they found Martinez to be highly intoxicated -- slurring his words and unable to stand. Police were told he had been throwing rocks at a window and knocking on the door of the residence.

They found the back door of the home broken and off the wood frame, and saw a window had been broken.

Martinez was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace and second-degree criminal trespass. He was initially held on $10,000 bond and is to appear Oct. 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
