Convicted Felon Sentenced to Prison for Firearms Possession

A 27 year-old man was sentenced in New Haven on Friday to 57 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Antoine Laws was arrested on June 6, 2012 by the Norwalk Police Department in the Roodner Court housing complex after he was found in possession of a .25 Caliber ACP semi-automatic handgun, which was loaded with hollow-point ammunition, and a quantity of crack cocaine, according to court documents and statements made in court. He was previously convicted of burglary, narcotics and firearms offenses, according to the release.

Laws has been detained since his arrest, and on January 29, 2013, he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon, the release states.
