Construction Equipment Stolen From Truck

Police say someone cut through a chain link fence to burglarize equipment out of a truck belonging to a pipeline construction company.

The theft was reported Friday morning by the Yankee Gas Company at 11 Harbor Ave.

The company’s parking lot is completed encircled by a chain link fence with barbed wire installed along the top of it.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Cotto said after cutting a hole in the fence, a padlock was cut on the rear door of a Ford F-550 truck belong to Henkels & McCoy, an engineering and utility infrastructure contractor in Blue Bell, PA.

Taken were two construction jumping jack tampers worth $7,200 and three shovels worth $75.

Cotto said officers followed tracks of soil across Harbor Avenue that led to the rear parking lot of the George Washington Carver Center, which provides youth enrichment and recreational programs.

The equipment was apparently loaded into a truck and carried away.
