A 63-year-old city resident died Wednesday morning of injuries caused when he was struck by a car Monday night.
Police said Richard Fallon was crossing East Avenue at around 7:39 p.m. when he was was struck by a car driven by a Stamford woman. She told police she didn't spot him in the roadway in enough time to stop her car.
Fallon was crossing the street in the area of Norwalk Pizza and Pasta at 236 East Ave. He was not in a cross walk.
The 44-year-old woman was northbound on Gregory Boulevard and turned left at the north end of the East Norwalk Historical Cemetery to enter East Avenue. She told police she briefly looked north for oncoming traffic, then drove forward onto East Avenue and struck Fallon.
Fallon was transported to Norwalk Hospital in critical condition.
Police spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Cotto said Officer Tyrone Boyd, who is a trained accident investigator, examined the scene and is preparing a report on what occurred. The investigation remains open, Cotto said.
