P.C. Richard's Warehouse Fire, Separate Fire on Soundview Ave. [Update]
Afternoon fire burns attic of Soundview Avenue home.
Several cartons containing new stoves caught fire Friday morning in the warehouse of the P.C. Richards & Sons store at 444 Connecticut Ave.
Firefighters said the fire caused a heavy smoke condition in the warehouse, with some smoke entering the adjoining store.
The fire was reported at around 11:30 a.m. Firefighters were able to extinguish the burning cartons with one hose line. The charred merchandise was then dragged outside through a rear door to the warehouse.

There were no injuries. Employees were able to reenter the store at about 12:15 p.m.

At 1:50 p.m., firefighters responded to a call from the owner of a house 55 Soundview Ave. that the attic was on fire.
In a news release, Dep. Chief Gino Gatto said when firefighters arrived smoke was coming from a second floor window. He said they pulled a hose line to the second floor and extinguished the fire, then checked for extension.
Gatto said one firefighter was taken to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation.
The fire is being investigated by Inspector Broderick Sawyer, Gatto said.
