Bridgeport Man Assaulted on Ely Avenue

A Bridgeport man was allegedly assaulted Tuesday evening in Norwalk, according to police.

The man's brother, a 32-year-old Norwalk resident and the complainant in the case, was planning to meet the victim at the store located at 261 Ely Ave., police said.

The complainant had been allegedly being badmouthed by his sister-in-law's boyfriend the previous week, but had reportedly walked away from a confrontation at that time, according to the police.

On Tuesday, however, the man allegedly came up to the complainant at the store and began badmouthing him again. When the complainant asked why he was badmouthing him, the suspect reportedly picked up a 2-by-4, police said.

The complainant told the man to put it down, which he did, but the man allegedly then went to his car and got a club. The complainant's brother, 34, reportedly arrived at that point and intervened, according to police.

The suspect then allegedly hit the victim with the club two times, leaving a one-to-two-inch gash and welt on the left side of the victim's head and a two-inch gash and welt on the right rear of the victim's head, police said.

The call about the assault was logged from the hospital, according to police, and police are still investigating the incident.
