Bridgeport Man Charged Twice Over Weekend With Breach of Peace

Police said he threatened to kill two women on Saturday; yelled an obscenity at a police officer on Sunday.

A Bridgeport man was arrested Saturday and again on Sunday for breach of peace and other charges.

Police said that on Saturday afternoon, two women came to police headquarters to report a man approached them in the area of 51 Chestnut St. and said "I'm going to kill you." One of the women lives at that South Norwalk address.

The women said they were afraid to return to the Chestnut Street address, so a patrol officer escorted them there. When they arrived, the women pointed to a man they said had threatened them and the officer took him into custody.

Sunday night, an officer was driving past 139 South Main Street when a man yelled out an obscenity at him. The officer turned around and encountered Delgado, who he recognized from previous incidents, he said.

The officer said Delgado stepped into the path of his patrol car. He exited his car and reported Delgado appeared to be "in an altered state of mind" and was behaving aggressively. He said Delgado began asking passing motorists to stop.

Reporting he knew Delgado was known to carry a knife, the officer said he attempted to pat down Delgado, but he resisted. Delgado was eventually put on the ground, handcuffed and transported to police headquarters.

Delgado, 33, was charged with interferring with an officer, breach of peace, and obstructing free passage.

Obstructing free passage is charged when -- after a police officer warns a person not to do so -- that person positions his body on public property so as to prevent free passage of pedestrians.

He was held on $500 bond and given a court date of June 18.
