Stolen Wallets Found in Norwalk with 3 NYC Men, 2 Kids

The owners of the two wallets, found in the wee hours Monday morning, apparently didn't even know they were missing before police called.

Wallets stolen from two parked vehicles in Darien turned up when Norwalk police stopped a UHaul truck driving without headlights early Monday morning in that city, according to various reports.

According to a report on the Stamford Advocate website, three men and two juveniles were in the UHaul box truck near the intersection of Main Avenue and Ward Street after police were called to the scene on the report of a suspicious vehicle.

The wallets belonged to residents of Beach Drive and Raymond Street in Darien. Darien police were contacted and in turn contacted the owners, who confirmed that the wallets had been taken after they left them in their vehicles Sunday evening, according to the news report, which Darien police confirmed.

None of the five were charged with any crimes in Norwalk. Darien police said they arrested Jason Rivera, 24, Jonathan Mendez, 23, Eric Garcia, 19, each of 437 Morris Place in the Bronx.

Darien police charged each of the three adults with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny and credit card theft. In addition, Rivera was charged with risk of injury to a minor, according to a police spokesman. The Connecticut Judicial Branch website states that each of the three men received that charge.

According to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website, all three men appeared Tuesday in state Superior Court in Stamford, where a judge reset their bonds at $10,000 each. They are next scheduled to appear in court on April 8.
