Person-to-Person Partners With Learning Express For Toy Drive

Person-to-Person and Learning Express are working together to collect 500 board games for the annual P2P toy store benefitting local families in need.

Person-to-Person is teaming up with Learning Express and asking for the community's assistance in collecting new board games for its annual toy store. P2P distributes new toys and board games to families in need during the holiday season.  An ongoing collection bin will be maintained at the store which is located in the Goodwives Shopping Center on 25 Old Kings Highway North.

"The P2P toy store at the Holidays is critical is because the toys and board games we distribute are going to those of our clients who have the least and who are helped throughout the year with basic necessities," remarks Ceci Maher, Executive Director of Person-to-Person.  This year Person-to-Person is expanding the capacity of the Toy Store to meet the increased need. The organization will serve approximately 650 families, representing 1,600 children, a 24% increase.

"We are delighted to join efforts with Person-to-Person to give back to our community in a way that touches families this holiday season," offers Alice Marks, proprietor of Learning Express. The store maintains an array of game boards and other numerous toys for children.

Members of the P2P Youth Group and Kid-to-Kid are organizing several drives across the community. Collections are underway at the local elementary schools, St. Thomas More Church, King Low Heywood Thomas school in Stamford and Barnes and Noble in Norwalk. The goal is to collect 500 games to serve the needs of the toy store.

"We hope to provide every parent with a board game, promoting fun time spent together as a family during the holidays and all year round," comments Michelle Buscher, one of the coordinators of this year's toy store. The store will be open December 13-15.
