Icy Roads Last Night

Last night, two hors after the short burst of snow stopped, the Merritt parkway between Greenwich and Norwalk remained a sheet of ice.  The road had not been treated or salted.  While waiting in our car for one hour on the closed road south of Exit 31, my husband had to leave the car to relieve himself.  As he walked to the side of the road, he slipped backwards and hit the back of his head.  A 911 call and hours in the emergency room later, he is ok with a slight concussion.  WHERE WAS THE DOT???? WHY DID THEY NOT ADDRESS THE PARKWAY SOONER????

Sorry to hear about you're husband. I wrote this to the ct dot, on their website. Considering writing a note of thanks to NY dot and ccing ct as well: Last night (Dec 24, 9pm-10pm), I witnessed perhaps a dozen or more needless accidents on ct-15, due to inadequate salting. It was so icy that simply getting up hills was a challenge for more than half of the cars on the roads (at 3-8 mph). What made it worse, and what highlights CT's NEGLIGENCE, is that NY had properly salted the road. Drivers coming to ct from NY hit the ice at much higher speeds. As for myself, I was lucky to have been going the other way, finding great relief as I crossed from Greenwich into port chester, where the difference was night and day. It is possible people may have died from this negligence! SALT (or sand) YOUR ROADS!!!

Thank you. I too was traveling north from Westchester, where the Hutch was bone dry. The state of cT is obviously not prioritizing our safety. I plan to take this further.

I hate autocorrect: "Your" I would love to hear your plan to take this further, Janet, especially because the negligence was so blatant.
