Obituary: Tony Casubolo, 59, Lifetime Norwalk Resident

Tony Casubolo, 59, of Norwalk, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012.

 

Tony Casubolo, 59, of Norwalk, passed away Sunday evening.

Tony is the son of Anthony (Tony) Casubolo, and the late, Jenny (Renzulli) Casubolo.  Tony is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jeanette (DiCostanzo), and their two children, Tony and Lisa, of whom he was so proud. He is also survived by a brother, Gabe, and sister-in-law, Theresa.

Tony was born in Norwalk, Connecticut and has been a lifelong resident of the city.  He passed away surrounded by his closest family and friends after a three-year fight with Pancreatic Cancer. Throughout his prolonged battle with the disease, Tony became a fixture at the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital, a favorite among the fellow patients and medical staff alike.  Tony’s perseverance with cancer is representative of his unyielding determination and genuine love for life. 

He worked tirelessly for more than 30 years as a heating technician for Herbert Fuel and then Shop Steward and Lead Technician at Petro Fuel. Dedicated to his profession and helping those in need, he would respond instantly to urgent service requests from anybody, regardless of the time. The boilers he installed were truly works of art.

A consistent theme throughout Tony’s 59 years was his passion for improving the lives of others. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Tony spent countless hours mentoring and training young professionals in his trade. He was involved in the community as an active member of St. Jerome’s Parish, the South Norwalk Boat Club, and as a baseball and football coach for several local youth leagues, including International Little League, Cranbury Baseball, Babe Ruth Baseball, NAA Pop Warner Football, and Girls’ Babe Ruth Softball.

As an active member of St. Jerome’s parish, Tony was an usher at Sunday Mass, taught religious education for many years, and sponsored several Confirmation candidates. As an avid bodybuilder, Tony volunteered his time to train numerous young athletes and aspiring weightlifters. As a boating enthusiast, Tony spent his summers traveling up and down the Connecticut and Long Island coastlines with his family. Above all, Tony’s most beloved activity was spending time with his family and friends.
