Rose Ritzo, 85, Former Owner of Flax Hill Grocery

Rose Ritzo, age 85, passed away peacefully at Aurora Senior Living on Friday, July 12, with her loving family at her side.  

She was born in Norwalk on April 9, 1928, the daughter of the late William A. and Helen Varga Ritzo and has lived locally all of her life. 

Rose was a graduate of Norwalk High School, Class of 1945, and was the former owner of Flax Hill Grocery. She was a member of the St. Ladislaus Church Choir, The Norwalk Senior Center and was a big UCONN Women’s Basketball supporter.   Rose enjoyed reading, playing cards and doing jigsaw puzzles.    

Rose loved spending time with her sister Helen Sandor of Norwalk, as well as her nieces and nephews Thomas Sandor and his wife Tracy, Joanne Falcone, Peter Kovarik and his wife Kim, Ellen Roberto, Janet Harrison and her husband James, her 6 grand nieces and nephews, and her late sister Jolanda Kovarik.     

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, July 15, 10 AM at St. Ladislaus Church, 25 Cliff St., Norwalk, with burial following at St. John Cemetery.  Rose’s family received friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, Sunday from 4-7 PM.  Donations in her name may be made to St. Ladislaus Church.  For directions or to leave an online condolence, please go to www.magnerfuneralhome.com.
