Richard D. LaBella, 80; Owned Barber Shops, Former Norwalk Resident

A memorial service in Norwalk is planned for March 1.


Richard Donald LaBella, who owned the Cos Cob Barber Shop, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014. He was 80. 

Born Oct. 17, 1933, he was a son of the late Daniel and Bergliot LaBella. 

He attended Stamford High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and received an honorable discharge in 1955. He was the owner of Cos Cob Barber Shop and CCB Haircutters in Greenwich, for 40 years before retiring to Naples. He previously lived in Stamford and Norwalk.

Mr. LaBella was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He enjoyed playing golf with his brother, Bob; his son-in-laws, Marc and John and his good friends in Greenwich and Beachwalk. 

Mr. LaBella is survived by his wife, Antoinette (Toni) LaBella; his brothers, Robert LaBella of Massachusetts and Frank LaBella of Florida; his seven children, Richard LaBella (Josephine), Ronald LaBella (Toni Ann), Robert LaBella (Marianna), Patti Price (Steven), Roger LaBella, Tracy DeBeradinis (Marc) and Jennifer Montoni (John); and 13 grandchildren, Theresa, Natalie, Victoria, Olivia, Jessica, Rachel, Roger, Mathew, Cole, Max, Teddy, John-Carter and Nico. He loved animals and leaves behind his loyal dog, Lilly and his 19-year-old Persian cat, Cody. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased his brother, Edward LaBella of Stamford. 

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at St. Philip Catholic Church, 1 Father Conlon Pl., Norwalk.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Ln., Naples, FL 34105.
