Richard D. Darragh, 71, passed away Wednesday October 10, 2012.

Richard W. Darragh, 71, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, October 10 at the Norwalk Hospital after a brief illness.  He was the husband of Judith E. Caldwell Darragh. 

Richard was born in Norwalk on January 12, 1941, the son of Catherine M. Kleis Darragh of Norwalk and the late Albert Austin Darragh, Sr.  He was a 1959 graduate of Norwalk High School, a 1967 graduate of the Paier School of Art with a degree in commercial advertising and worked as a graphic designer for Pitney Bowes.  During the Viet Nam War he served his country in the National Guard.  Richard was a member of The Shore & Country Club and in his spare time enjoyed fishing, working with stained glass, and restoring classic cars, especially Corvette’s.  He also adored his granddaughters and family.

In addition to his wife and mother, Richard is survived by his two daughters, Stacey D. Garnett and her husband Frank, and Rebecca Savvaides and her husband Angelo, his granddaughters Zoe and Thalia, all of Norwalk, his brother Albert A. Darragh, Jr. of West Palm Beach, FL.  And his uncle and aunt Jack and Jean Kleis of Norwalk.     

Services will be held on Monday, October 15, 11 AM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery.  Richard’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Smilow Cancer Center, 20 York St., New Haven, CT, 06510.  Richard’s family would also like to thank Dr. Scott Gettinger and his staff at Yale for their care.  For directions or to leave an online condolence, please go to magnerfuneralhome.com
