Obituary: Rosemary Madaffari Lanzilotta, 69

Rosemary Madaffari Lanzilotta, age 69, of Spring Hill, Florida and a former longtime Norwalk resident, died peacefully at home on October 19, 2013.  

Born in Norwalk on October 31, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette Madaffari.  Rosemary was a graduate of Norwalk High School in 1961 in which she was very active in the student body and student politics.     

In 1962, Rosemary was named Miss Pietro Mica Lodge, and then went on to conduct the local Miss America Pagaents.  Her passion and dedication lied with the Sons of Italy in which she also became President.  She was always a very active participant in the Independent Party in Norwalk as well.   

Rosemary started her career as an Executive Secretary but more recently was a successful Real Estate/Mortgage Broker in California.  Rosemary was always very passionate about her beliefs, heritage, career and family. In more recent years, she became very passionate about watching her cooking shows and putting together fabulous meals.   

Her fellow classmates always referred to her as “never stop sparkling.”Rosemary is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dr. Raymond P. Lanzilotta.  Her three daughters: Kimberly Troy Benincaso, Karyn Troy Deering and her husband Michael and Kasey Troy Vukson and her husband Brian and her 8 grandchildren: James, Thomas and Joseph Benincaso, Troy and Ryan Deering, Rylee, Christian and Cameron Vukson and her two step-daughters, Christine Eppinger and her husband Steven and Karen Norkowski and her husband Charles, and her 3 step-grandchildren:  Brett Eppinger, Trevor and Amelia Norkowski.  

Rosemary is also survived by five siblings: Peter Madaffari of Norwalk, CT, Patrick Madaffari of Palm Bay, FL, Lucille Madaffari of Menlo Park, CA, Joseph Madaffari, Jr. of Norwalk, CT, and Joanne McGowan of Norwalk, CT.   

Rosemary was predeceased by her older sister, Theresa Madaffari Arcudi.   

Rosemary’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on  Thursday, October 24, from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday October 25, at 10:00a.m. in St. Jerome Church,  23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
