Obituary: Robert Bastoni, 85

Robert L. Bastoni, 85, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Norwalk, died on October, 5, 2013.  

Devoted father of John Bastoni of Fremont, NH; James Bastoni of San Antonio, TX; Pete Bastoni of New Orleans, LA; Nicole Bastoni of Norwalk, CT; and Ann Bastoni Randall and the late Gerald Bastoni.  Brother of Henry and the late Edwin Bastoni.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and his former first wife, Ginny Marois, and his former second wife, Kimberly Snyder Bastoni.  

Bob graduated from Plymouth High School in 1945.  He spent 13 years in various positions in the textile manufacturing industry before moving to the NYC metro area and joining J P Stevens as chief textile designer.

Upon moving to CT he spent the next 33 years as a textile executive holding many international roles which took him around the world. In 1972, he formed a partnership with Mitsubishi, the world’s largest and leading trading company.  He held senior executive positions at Burlington Industries and retired as the President of Worcester Textile Mills.  

He was a member of Shore & Country Club.

Mass will be said at The Assumption Church of Westport in Westport, CT on Saturday, October 12th at 11:30 am and at St. Peter’s Parish, Plymouth, MA on Thursday, October 17th at 10 am. Burial will be at Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth, MA.
