Obituary: Joseph A. Lomazzo, 93

A funeral service for Joseph will be held at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Thursday, October 3 at 7:30 PM.

Joseph A. Lomazzo, age 93 of Green Acres, FL and former Norwalk resident, died Tuesday, September 25, at the JFK Hospital in Atlantis, FL.

He was the husband of the late Fannie Venezia Lomazzo.   Joseph was born in Norwalk on March 18, 1920, the son of the late Michael and Mary Cappuccia Lomazzo.  

Joseph was the former owner of The Jury Box Restaurant in Bridgeport and was the deli manager for Food Mart in Old Greenwich up until his retirement.  He was an avid golfer, and continued to play into his 90's.  In retirement, his love of golf led him to being a marshal at the Oak Hills Golf Course in Norwalk.  

He was also a veteran of WW II, serving his country in the U.S. Army Air Force.  He was a member of the Sons of Italy, enjoyed trips to the casino and in his younger years, loved playing baseball and softball.     

Survivors include a son, Joel J. Lomazzo, his wife Corrinne and children Gavin and Sarah, all of East Hartford, CT, his brothers Sam Lomazzo of FL and Michael Lomazzo of CT, sister Margaret Gaita of FL, his longtime companion Marjorie Rysz  and many nieces and nephews. 

He was also predeceased by his sisters Rose Veno and Angie Pia. A funeral service for Joseph will be held at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Thursday, October 3 at 7:30 PM.  

His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 PMuntil the service begins.  Donations in Joseph’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
