Obituary: Albert Riccio, 89

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 11:00a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk.

Albert Riccio, age 89, died at the Norwalk Hospital on Sunday, September 22, after a brief illness.  

Albert was born in Norwalk on February 13, 1924, the son of the late Luciano and Marguerite Lucarelli Riccio and was very proud to live here all of his life.  He was veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart for his valor during the Battle of the Bulge.  

In his younger years Albert was an avid bowler.  He enjoyed gardening, cooking, horse racing, spending time at Calf Pasture Beach, and he was also an avid Yankee fan.     

Albert is survived by his sister Josephine M. Scordo of Milford and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by his siblings Ida Castellano, John, Anthony, Michael and Matthew Riccio.     

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 11:00a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk.  

Burial with full military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery.  Albert’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Wed. from 9:30-10:30a.m., prior to leaving for mass.
