Mary Agostino, 82, Scottish Immigrant

Mary Agostino, 82, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at her home in Mendon, VT.  She was the wife of the late Anthony Agostino.  Mary was born on February 6, 1930 in Greenock, Scotland, the daughter of the late Francis and Anne Bradley Griffin.  She was a longtime Norwalk resident and had also lived in Mashpee, Cape Cod for 20 years before moving to Vermont.  

She enjoyed knitting, crafts, reading and loved to travel, especially with her family.  Mary was also very involved with St. Mary Church when she lived in Norwalk and had worked for several years at Reynolds Farms Nursery Garden Center.     

Survivors include her children Anthony Agostino, Jr. of New York City, Peter Agostino and his wife Allyson of Stamford, Anne Griffin and her husband Bert Winans of Mendon, VT, and Laura Caraway and her husband Daniel of Atlanta, GA.  Mary is also survived by her two grandchildren Griffin and Peter and close personal friends Grady Cooley, Jaclyn Lamirande and several nieces and nephews. Mary is also survived by sisters-in- law Lada and Mary and brother-in-law Natale. She was predeceased by her 5 siblings.     

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 27, 9:30 AM at St. Mary Church, 669 West Ave., Norwalk, CT, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.  Mary’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, today (Thursday) from 6-8 PM.
