Margaret Callahan Anderson, 89, Norwalk Resident, Raised in Darien

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 28, 10:00a.m. at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk,

Margaret Callahan Anderson, age 89 and beloved wife of the late Bernard W. Anderson for 65 years, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on Thursday, October 24.  

Margaret was born in Darien on July 14, 1924, the daughter of the late John L. and Catherine Fox Callahan.  She was raised in Darien and has lived most of her life in Norwalk.  

Margaret worked for several years as a retail clerk and supervisor and her most recent employment was as a bookkeeper at Fullam’s in Norwalk.  When her children were younger she was very active in St. Mary’s School and Church in Norwalk and has been a parishioner of St. Matthew’s Church for the past several years.  She enjoyed gardening and her church affiliations but the most important part of her life was her family.     

Margaret is survived by her two children, Margaret “Peggy” Kennedy and her husband Arthur of Redding, and Tim Anderson of Norwalk, two grandchildren, Sean Kennedy and his wife Kelly of Newtown and Moira Stanley and her husband Michael of Nottingham, NH.  Also surviving are her great grandchildren Brooke, Rylan, Kennedy and Asher, and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings John Callahan and Mary Whitehead.     

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 28, 10:00a.m. at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
