Frank Muiolo III, 64, Navy SEAL, Owned Frankie's Service

His 26 years of Navy service involved action from the Vietnam War all the way through Operation Desert Storm.

Frank J. (Moe) Muoio III of South Norwalk, CT., passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2014 at Milford Hospital in Milford Connecticut. His sons Frank J. Muoio IV and Dominick V. Muoio, as well as his daughter Angela Muoio were at his side. He was 64 years of age.

Born November 27, 1949 in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of Frank J. and Josephine M. (Palma) Muoio Jr. Frank grew up in South Norwalk with his brother and sisters in their home on Ely Avenue. Frank and his wife Judith Muoio raised their three children in Darien, CT for 29 years.

Frank graduated from Brien McMahon High School in 1967 where he lettered in football. Frank operated and owned Frankie's Service Inc. for over thirty years with his father Frank Muoio Jr., his brother John David Muoio and his son Frank Muoio IV.

He held the office of President of the Southern Fairfield County Body Shop Association (SFCBSA) and was proudly involved with many local as well as the state police departments.

Frank joined the United States Navy in 1968 and attended basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois. His first duty station was with Naval Amphibious Beach Master Unit 2 for the first three years of his enlistment.

Frank later became a member of Underwater Demolition Team 21 where he attended Navy Dive School and Navy Parachute School and finally retiring with SEAL Team Two Reserve Unit.

His exceptionally admirable 26 years of Navy service involved action from the Vietnam War all the way through Operation Desert Storm. He was awarded the Navy Commendation medal with “V” device, two Presidential Unit Citations, four Navy Good Conduct medals and many other honorable decorations.

Frank comes from a proud Navy tradition, which has spanned three generations of the Muoio family.

Frank is survived by his son Frank J. and Ann Muoio IV, daughter Angela Muoio, his son Dominick V. and Michelle A. Muoio, and their mother Judith Muoio. He is also survived by his four grandchildren Ilario, Cole, William and Henry Muoio. Frank is preceded in death by his father Frank Muoio Jr. and his sister Christine (Muoio) Genet.

He leaves behind his mother, Josephine (Palma) Muoio and his three siblings Ann (Muoio) Palisano, Joan (Muoio) Thane and John David Muoio, as well as his many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and friend with the pride and strength of the United States Navy. He will be greatly missed.

Wake will be held at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Homeand Crematory, 5 East Wall Street in Norwalk on Wednesday April 9th, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 12th, 2014 at St. Mary's Church, 669 West Ave., Norwalk at a time to be announced, and a Military Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Broad Street, Norwalk.
