Elsie Terzian, 89, Meticulous at Work, Generous Retiree

In her position at Ring's End "she was meticulous and detailed, always labeling and organizing items and famously never threw anything out."

Elsie Terzian, age 89 passed away March 21, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital. She was born July 3, 1924 in Windber PA, the daughter of Joseph G. and Anna B. (Gondek) Showinsky.

She graduated from Sidman High School, Sidman, PA in 1941 and worked at the King Coffer Co. in Detroit, MI, where she met her husband, Archie L. Terzian of Darien, CT.

They were married in 1952 and made their home in Norwalk, CT.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Joseph, Robert and Samuel. She leaves her beloved children, Bryan S. Terzian of Westport, CT (Anna) and Susan N. Kharazi of Northern CA, and four grandchildren, Bryan S. Terzian, Jr. and Michael S. Terzian, Pasha J. Kharazi and Nader A. Kharazi.

While in Connecticut she worked in accounts receivable at Pitney Bowes, was a bookkeeper at Norwalk State Technical College and retired from Rings End in Darien after 15 years in inventory control — a perfect job for her because she was meticulous and detailed, always labeling and organizing items and famously never threw anything out.

On weekends and after retirement, she was a constant golfer and greatly enjoyed gardening. Elsie Terzian grew hundreds of different flowers. She often took live bouquets to nursing homes and grave sites.

She also dried flowers and arranged them. She sold some arrangements and gave many to friends. Terzian received a blue, a red and a white ribbon for her plants and arrangements from the Westport Garden Show.

She was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Darien, CT. There will be a Memorial Service at the church, 1864 Post Rd., on Wednesday March 26, 2014 at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Lukes. The Edward Lawrence Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. To leave an online condolence, go to www.lawrencefuneralhome.com.
