Edith S. Kiggins, 101, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012.

Edith S. Kiggins, 101, of Darien, died on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Atria of Darien.  Born in Norwalk, the daughter of the late Anthony and Annie Smith, she was the wife of the late Walter Kiggins Sr.  

A graduate of Merrill Business School, Class of 1930, she was a retired manager of Kiggins Fuel Co.  Edith was an active member of the United Church of Rowayton. She also volunteered with Save the Children and Norwalk Hospital, where she will be remembered for her handmade hats, blankets and prayer shawls.

She was predeceased by a step-son, Walter F. Kiggins, Jr., and a step-granddaughter, Kathy Kiggins Gettner.  She is survived by a step-son Douglas L. Kiggins, Sr., 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.     

Funeral services officiated by Rev. John Livingston will be held at 11:30AM  on Wed., Jan. 2 at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wed. beginning at 10:30AM. Memorial donations may be directed to the United Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Ave, Rowayton, CT 06853.
