Bob G. Koenig, 77, Veteran and Special Olympics Volunteer

Robert G. Koenig, 77, of Norwalk, passed away June 3, 2012 at Norwalk Hospital.

Robert G. Koenig, 77, of Norwalk, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the Norwalk Hospital. He was the husband of Eleanor Frattaroli Koenig. 

Bob was born in Stamford on April 21, 1935, son of the late Robert C. and Selma Petzolt Koenig. He was retired from Pitney Bowes where he had worked as a mechanical engineer. Bob was also a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Marines. 

He was very involved with Special Olympics, STAR, Inc., and was a former USS swimming official. Bob loved to golf and enjoyed working with his hands and fixing whatever he was able to.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his son Robert J. Koenig of Norwalk, his daughter Deborah Sears and her husband Todd of MA, his son-in-law Thomas E. Smith and grandchildren Thomas J., Jessica A., and Justin T. Smith, all of Norwalk. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Frances DeSalvo of Stamford, his siblings Harold Koenig, Frances Semonich and Elsie Scanlon, all of Torrington, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was also predeceased by his beloved daughter Cheryl Ann Koenig Smith and his brother George Koenig.     

Services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, June 9, at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. Bob’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 AM until services begin.
