Alex Monteiro, 83, of Norwalk

Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home in Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sat., 12:00p.m. at St. Matthew's Church. Funeral procession will leave the funeral Home at 11:15a.m.

Alex Monteiro age 83, beloved husband of Anne Veltri Monteiro of Norwalk, died January 7, 2014 in Norwalk Hospital. 

He was born on March 16, 1930 in New Rochelle, NY and was a son to the late Augusto & Aurinda Castro Monteiro. Alex was an retired employee for the Joyce Beverage Company in New York.

Survivors in addition to his loving wife Anne include, a son Peter Monteiro and his wife Maryann; a daughter Elaine Newell and her husband William, all of Norwalk; four grandchildren, Alex & Peter Monteiro, Chris & Paul Paradise; nine great-grandchildren, Marco, Jessica, Ashlee, Alex J., Kate, Anthony, Lia, Madeline & Peter J.; one brother, James Monteiro and his wife Grace of N.C.; two sisters, Isabel Carafa & Alvira Chimento both of NY. He was predeceased by a grandson Marco Monteiro.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00 pm in St. Matthew’s Church, Norwalk. Funeral procession will leave the funeral Home at 11:15 am. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Norwalk.
