We were greeted with a warm welcome at Georgia State University (GSU), home of the Panthers. Located in beautiful downtown Atlanta, GSU is one of the most diverse schools in the nation.

According to the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, Georgia State has made “exceptional progress” in boosting graduation rates over the past three years. “One by one, the university mined the data to locate the most significant obstructions to student success and then piloted interventions, ran data, refined the programs, and scaled them up.”

According to “America’s Best Colleges” edition, U.S. News and World Report, Georgia State is ranked among the top 14 “up and coming” national universities and 12th among the country’s most diverse institutions.

Georgia State is well known for its research and its School of Business. Their motto is “Do big things.” When you enroll at Georgia State you can do so as undecided with your major; a career counselor will work with you to determine your course of study and help you secure internships. The staff will provide trainings and support including mock interviews.

Admission requirements include 1190 on the SAT, GPA between 3.2 and 3.7, and a 21 on the ACT. Out-of-state tuition is $13,000 per year. There are over 400 clubs, sororities and fraternities, and a huge fitness center. Safety of students is a top priority for Georgia State and there are 70 emergency call stations on campus. The school is surrounded by five police stations. The largest student-run radio station in Georgia is located at GSU.

You can’t think of Georgia State without thinking of football. Fans enjoy every moment in the Georgia Dome. The team plays on the same field as the Atlanta Falcons.

There is much pride at Georgia State University and I feel it is a fine institution!
