Wright Tech Reunion - Class of 1982

Wright Tech - Class of 1982, Together again

Saturday, 9/29/2012, the Class of 1982 is having their 30 Year Reunion. After a year of planning by a very dedicated committee, the event will be at the Knights of Columbus on Shippan Ave. in Stamford. Registered to attend is, at least half of the graduating class along with teachers from that year. Many of the attendees are traveling from all parts, far and wide. Every effort by the committee was made to locate classmates which was 99% successful!

Wright Tech was a State Regional Vocational Technical High School located in Scalzi Park, Stamford, CT. It was recently closed by the State with hopes to reopen stronger than ever. Wright Tech had along history in Stamford, training the tradesmen and women as a night school and a full time high school. Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, electronics, auto, drafting, chemistry, hair dressing and cosmetology, printing, machine tool & die, food trades and services were a few of the successful trades taught. A student that graduated from those trades was trained and accredited valuable time towards there state's requirements for a License.

The Class of 82 was one of the most successful classes that the early 1980's was known to graduate. Students were recruited from Stamford, Darien, Greenwich, Norwalk, Weston, Westport and New Canaan. The students were highly motivated to attend and the school, back then, was not taking the other town's failing students. Part of the Class of '82 success can be judged by the graduates that are still in their trades! But the Class' success can also be judged by the graduates that have gone on to be outside of their trades. Police officers, nurses, military veterans & entrepreneurs are all represented by graduates of this class. The main success of this class is its tight relationships over the past 30 years. Many of the students have raised families together and there been a few marriages between graduates that have lasted. Some of the graduates have recently rediscovered close relationships that have lead to the alter.

Look for more blogs and pictures, the reunion is going to be a blast.
