What are tweet seats?

If you sit on the stage at the Norwalk Concert Hall and look up into the balcony, you will see a section of seats on the left hand side that are separated from the central section by an aisle.  The Norwalk Symphony will be designating those as "Tweet Seats".  Those seats will be available at a much reduced rate but to qualify to sit in them, you must have an Smart Phone (on mute) and you must have a twitter account. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, you must tweet about the concert in real time.  Everyone else in the concert hall has to turn cell phones off but the people in the Tweet seats will be able to have their phones on (MUTED).  I decided to try the idea out on a student of mine.  She is a ninth grader at a local high school and had just finished telling me about how she had HAD to attend a rehearsal of another orchestra and how she had found it "sooooo boring" and had fallen asleep.  So I decided to roll out the Tweet Seat idea to her.  I asked if she had a smart phone "Yes", (with the kind of condescending attitude that only a ninth grader can toss at you) ... I asked if she has a twitter account "Yes" (more condescension).  So I said "What would you think of the idea of sitting in the concert and tweeting about your experience as it is happening?"
The condescending attitude VANISHED  "You mean I can sit there and tweet 'This is totally awesome'?????"  "YES", I said,  And I got my one word seal of approval "COOL" complete with a big smile and bright eyes --
That clinched the deal for me.  We will give it a try at our October 19 concert.  We are setting aside 20 tickets in the TWEET SEAT section. To reserve your seat, you can call the NSO office at 203-956-6771.  The seats will cost $5 for those who qualify -- remember you need a smart phone and a twitter account.  SEE YOU AT THE SYMPHONY!!
