Local Veterinarian Wins Good Housekeeping's "Seal Star"

Good Housekeeping Magazine awarded its "Seal Star" to Dr. Kathi Meenan. She is featured in the August issue in honor of the her non-profit "Wishes for Horses."

Back in April, Patch featured local veterinarian Dr. Kathi Meenan' non-profit, "Wishes for Horses."  Shortly after the feature ran, this Patch editor was contacted by Good Housekeeping Magazine. Apparently, staff at Good Housekeeping noticed the feature and wanted to celebrate Dr. Meenan's work by awarding her their "Good Housekeeping Seal Star."

Meenan, a veterinarian at Rippowam Animal Hospital in Stamford, is featured in this month's edition of Good Housekeeping for her work in Norwalk providing underprivileged children a chance to ride horses and learn about caring for them.

Meenan, who also resides with her husband and boys in Norwalk, explained to Patch that youngsters who see adults care for animals learn empathy and are more likely to own and take good care of pets as adults. In fact, sometimes, Meenan pointed out, they grow up to become veterinarians like she did.

Congrats Dr. Meenan. You had Patch's seal of approval back in April!
