Fundraising Opportunity: Register Your Non-Profit for "Giving Day"

Fairfield County Community Foundation and Bank of America to Launch an online 24-hour day of giving, set for Friday, March 7, hopes to raise $1 Million for 300+ non-profits in Fairfield County.


The Fairfield County Community Foundation and Bank of America have launched a project to support local nonprofits.

Fairfield County Giving Day," an online 24-hour day of giving, set for Friday, March 7, hopes to raise $1 Million for more than 300 nonprofits throughout the region.

During the 24-hour period, donors are encouraged to make online donations to organizations doing work in areas critical to the community – from housing to education to the arts and more. $25,000 will be awarded to the nonprofit receiving the most individual donations, and other incentives and matching gifts will also be awarded. 

“Our local nonprofits provide critical services in our community, and Fairfield County Giving Day is a great way to showcase their important work and help them raise funds that will allow them to do more,” said Juanita T. James, president & CEO, Fairfield County Community Foundation in a release.

“Whether you support a food bank in Fairfield, a land trust in Redding or an after school program in Greenwich, you’ll know that your gift is helping a local nonprofit," James said, adding, "Your $10 gift could help that organization secure a much larger Fairfield County Giving Day is open to all eligible nonprofits organizations Fairfield County.

Information on how to register your nonprofit – the deadline to register is Feb. 7 - or how you can support this community event is available online.

“Every day hundreds of organizations across Fairfield County are engaged in the yeoman’s work of improving the quality of life for local residents,” said Bill Tommins, Southern Connecticut market president, Bank of America in the release.

“Whether your heart is in the arts or serving the homeless, Fairfield County Giving Day gives every resident the opportunity to build stronger connections with the broader community and support the work of these important nonprofits," Tommins added.

In the last few years, giving days have become one of the most effective ways to galvanize an entire community to take action and make a donation.

These online initiatives create excitement around charitable giving, help nonprofits strengthen their online fundraising skills and make it easy for people living in the community to show their support. During its recent giving day, The Great Give 2013, the New Haven Community Foundation helped raise over $750,000 for its local nonprofits in a 36-hour period. 


The Fairfield County Community Foundation promotes the growth of community and regional philanthropy to improve the quality of life throughout Fairfield County.

Individuals, families, corporations and organizations can establish their own charitable funds or contribute to existing funds focused on specific areas of need or communities in Fairfield County.

The Foundation also provides philanthropic advisory services, and develops and leads initiatives to tackle critical community issues. It is in compliance with the Council on Foundations’ national standards for community foundations. The Foundation has awarded over $168 million in grants to nonprofits in Fairfield County and beyond.
