New Board Members at Fairfield County Community Foundation

The Fairfield County Community Foundation in Norwalk has added three new board members. John Bailey of Darien, Greg Hartch of Greenwich and Elisabeth Morten of Fairfield were recently elected to serve a two-year term. As leaders in the business community and actively involved with nonprofits in their towns and across the country, they bring a wealth of experience to help the Foundation make an impact throughout the region. 

Mr. Bailey, a Darien resident, is the founder and portfolio manager of Spruce Private Investors, which offers funds across all hedge fund and private investment strategies and manages endowment-style portfolios as an outsourced chief investment officer for wealthy families, foundations, and endowments. Prior to founding Spruce, he ran a Connecticut-based multi-client family office, where he was responsible for asset allocation and manager selection. He also served as a trust officer at Columbus Circle and a sell-side equity research analyst at Oppenheimer & Company, covering the insurance, gaming, and lodging sectors. He earned an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of 

Mr. Hartch, a Greenwich resident, is an executive vice president & portfolio manager for GE Asset Management in Stamford. He joined GE in 2002 and has held several positions including head of tactical asset allocation, director of fixed income research, and managing director of international real estate. Currently, he serves as GE’s strategy leader, is co-lead portfolio manager of GE’s balanced mutual funds, and serves as a trustee of the GE Pension Trust. Prior to joining GE, Mr. Hartch worked in investment banking and global markets at Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs. He is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Virginia School of Law. In addition to serving as a trustee of the GE Pension Trust, he also serves on the boards of Brunswick School, GE’s U.S. employee defined con-tribution plan, and the Elfun Mutual Funds. Mr. Hartch and his wife, Christa, have three children.

Ms. Morten, a Fairfield resident, is a Tony-nominated theatrical producer and Broadway League Tony voter. She began professional life as a vocal soloist with operatic, Celtic and contemporary music ensembles in the US and Europe. After earning an MBA from UCLA, she became a chartered financial analyst and investment analyst and portfolio manager with Citibank and US Steel Pension Fund in New York. 

Ms. Morten chaired the State Public Affairs Committee for the New Jersey Junior Leagues, advocating on behalf of women, children, and families. As president and chair of the board of trustees of the Westport Country Playhouse, she oversaw the major renovations of the community theater. She has been involved professionally and as a volunteer with: Connecticut Grand Opera, San Francisco Ballet, Rice Council in Zurich, Switzerland, ThinkQuest, the Connecticut Dance School, Choate Rosemary Hall, Columbia University, Skidmore College, the New Jersey Junior Leagues, the Broadway League Education Fundraising Committee, Theatre Communications Group, and the National Council for the American Theatre. 

The Fairfield County Community Foundation promotes the growth of community and regional philanthropy to improve the quality of life throughout Fairfield County. Individuals, families, corporations and organizations can establish charitable funds or contribute to existing funds. The Foundation also provides philanthropic advisory services, and develops and leads initiatives to tackle critical community issues. It is in compliance with the Council on Foundations’ national standards for community foundations.
