Wireless Tele-Health Monitoring
Jim Lisher, Chairman of New Canaan’s Health & Human Services Commission, will present a program about Wireless Tele-Health Monitoring – cutting edge technology that allows health care providers to monitor a patient’s condition from a remote location, including the patient’s own home.
According to Lisher, “Wireless Tele-Health monitoring technology plus ubiquitous information processing are rapidly converging to support a Smarter Health Care Consumer … and a better informed Medical Services Community. This convergence is driving a major catalyst of positive change for both health care cost containment and improving quality of life…particularly for the coming tsunami of senior population.”
Jim has led a series of four studies on Senior Care Health Care & Housing needs for the town of New Canaan for the next 15-20 years. This body of work, known as “New Canaan’s Optimal Livable Community Plan for Seniors,” includes an innovative Senior Wellness Video Tele-Health pilot program that is believed to be the first use of technology for improving aging at-home health care, focusing on wellness management. He will discuss the program as well as the tools used to implement it.
Meetings are held at the Silver Star diner in Norwalk. We invite you to remain after the meeting for some socializing and to have pizza, salad and the beverage of your choice. Cost is shared and is normally less than $14/person. The Silver Star allows us to use their facility at no charge and we think they deserve some benefit for their generosity.
