Book & A Movie - The Butler: A Witness to History

Join us at the South Norwalk Branch Library for a discussion of Wil Haygood’s The Butler: A Witness to History, the real life story of Eugene Allen. Allen worked as a butler in the White House from 1952 -1986, served eight U.S. Presidents--from Truman to Reagan--and witnessed pivotal moments in American history from segregation to the election of President Barack Obama.  Lee Daniels' 2013 movie The Butler (126 minutes), starring Oprah Winfrey and Academy-Award winning actor Forest Whitaker, will follow the book discussion. Those who want to discuss the book are invited to stay to view the movie and those who only want to view the movie are welcome to do so. Multiple copies of the book are available at the South Norwalk Branch Library. This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.  Registration is available online or by calling (203) 899-2790 x 15902.
