Gail Lavielle: Emily Wilson Will Be an Asset to the Common Council

Letter to the editor from Gail Lavielle, State Rep, 143rd Dist. (Norwalk, Westport, Wilton) in support of Emily Wilson, District E candidate for Norwalk's Common Council.

It is my great pleasure to endorse Emily Wilson as a District E candidate for Norwalk's Common Council. She brings solid professional experience, a strong work ethic, and a proven commitment to community service to the job, and it would be hard to find anyone more enthusiastic about Norwalk.

Emily is an attorney with substantial experience in land use, trust and estates, and business law. Because she has served clients for years, she understands what it means to listen well and represent and defend the interests of others. Her time on the Conservation Commission and the Zoning Commission, which she now chairs, has prepared her well for collaborative work and consensus-building on the Common Council.

I have served for several years on the Board of the Norwalk Senior Center with Emily, who is the Board’s President, and I’ve seen her in action. She takes a thoughtful, measured, but firm approach to every important decision, and creates an atmosphere of real collegiality by making sure that everyone is heard. She leads by speaking softly, because people feel that what she has to say is always clear, reasoned, and fair, and they have a deep respect for her judgment.

Emily Wilson is running for the Common Council because she truly cares about Norwalk and about contributing to the community. I know she will work hard with colleagues on both sides of the political aisle to serve the best interests of her constituents, and that her experience, her integrity, and her seriousness of purpose will make her an asset to the Council and to Norwalk. It’s a privilege to support her candidacy.

Gail Lavielle
State Representative, 143rd district
