Working Families Party in Norwalk Endorses Garfunkel for Mayor

Jon Green, the Working Families Party director, said Garfunkel will help "average families" by promoting good jobs, good schools and transparent government in Norwalk.

The Working Families Party in Norwalk has endorsed Andy Garfunkel, the Democratic candidate for mayor.

"We are proud of all of our endorsed candidates in Norwalk; they all have a strong record of standing up for working families on issues such as good jobs, quality public schools, and open and transparent government," said Jon Green, the Working Families Party director. "Andy Garfunkel will be the kind of mayor who stands up for average families in Norwalk and has earned our support."

In a news release Wednesday, Garfunkel said: "I feel honored to have the endorsement of the WFP. As a lifelong resident of Norwalk, I understand our community and the challenges facing members of our community."

He added, "Education, job growth and reducing the tax burden on the residential taxpayer are key issues for Norwalk residents."

Garfunkel has served as Norwalk's town clerk since 2001. He faces Richard A. Moccia, the three-term Republican incumbent, in November.
