Minimal Power Outages Reported Amid Friday's Snowfall [Updated]

Patch will update this post with information pertaining to travel, outages and accidents that affect wide swaths of Fairfield County in the wake of Friday's snowfall.

Only eight Newtown residents are reporting power outages as of 1:17 p.m., according to CL&P.

Updated 10:25 a.m.

All DMV road tests are cancelled for Friday. Anyone with a scheduled road test can call DMV to choose a new date. The numbers to call are 860-263-5700 if someone is within the Hartford area and toll-free 800-842-8222 for those outside the Hartford area. DMV is also attempting to contact customers with road test appointments to advise them of the schedule change.

New Haven Line Service is now operating on or close to schedule, according to Metro-North.

An motor vehicle accident with injuries and reported entrapment has been reported on the Merritt Parkway, northbound of exit 41.

Metro-North officials are currently reporting 10-minute delays on the New Haven line due to weather-related conditions.

"Please take care when traveling during inclement weather and allow for additional travel time," Metro-North officials caution. "Customers should use caution when entering and exiting trains, and on platforms and staircases."

According to CL&P's outage map, only one customer in the county is experiencing a power outage as of 9:16 a.m., while 14 United Illuminating customers in Easton, one in Naugatuck and one in Stratford are currently without power.
