MTA Advisory: New Haven Line On Sunday Schedule Monday

New York City subways on weekday schedule; bridges may ban certain types of vehicles because of wind.

In a news release, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority advises its Metro-North Railroad and New York City subway passengers to check its website, mta.info, for current information about its services

The MTA says that on Monday its Metro-North New Haven Line will operate on its regular Sunday schedule, while subways will operate on their normal weekday schedule.

Also, Metro-North employees will work overnight to clear, sand and salt station platforms.

MTA bridges and tunnels are expected to operate normally Monday, with lanes fully cleared of snow and ice.

However, high winds may result in speed restrictions or banning of certain types of vehicles from bridges.

Phase 1 restrictions are implemented when winds reach between 30-49 miles per hour and road surfaces are wet or icy. Other factors, such as wind direction, are also considered in determining whether speed restrictions are put into effect, with drivers warned of the speed limit changes by signs.

Phase II restrictions are issued when sustained winds reach 50 miles per hour, barring certain vehicles, including tractor-trailers, motorcycles, step vans, motor homes and mini-buses from crossing the bridges.

Also, the Department of Buses has installed chains on the wheels of articulated buses and buses that will be in operation during the overnight. Particular attention is being paid to routes with hilly sections.
