Get Away to a Spa in Connecticut

If you're going to splurge, here are some places to do it.

The Spa at Norwich Inn: The website says you can “design your own Personal Escape Plan!” Sounds good to me. Their Personal Escape package includes a guestroom, breakfast, two spa services, two fitness classes, morning walk, morning meditation, make-up color analysis, afternoon tea and scones and wine tasting. From $318 per person, per night. (800) ASK-4-SPA. 607 West Thames St., Norwich, CT.

Saybrook Point Inn & Spa: Grab the girls and get the heck outta here!  The package includes overnight accommodations for two, a girl's getaway T-shirt, a bottle of wine upon arrival, choice of any facial (excluding Gel Peel) or a Saybrook Point Massage, and breakfast.  (877) 358-0232. 2 Bridge St., Old Saybrook, CT. Prices through March are $489 Sunday through Thursday and $559 Friday and Saturday (deluxe room); $509 Sunday through Thursday and $569 Friday and Saturday (deluxe room with fireplace.)

The Spa at Mohegan Sun: Who needs a boring old Swedish massage when you can have the Ceremony of the Sacred Sun or the Trail of Life Ritual? It’s up to you whether you go to the buffet before or after your day of relaxation. (888) 777-7922. 1 Mohegan Sun Blvd., Uncasville, CT. Ceremony of the Sacred Sun takes about two hours and includes massage, exfoliation and self-tanner for $220, plus a 20-percent service charge. Trail of Life Ritual is a much more elaborate affair and includes a bathing ritual, full body massage, facial, break for lunch (who wouldn't need a break after all that?), pedicure, manicure and hair styling. Price is just over $500, plus a 20-percent service charge.

Deep Blue Lavender Embrace, which includes buffing, steam and massage in a relaxing atmosphere, is $250, plus 20-percent service charge, for 90 minutes; Thermal Sanctuary Experience, which includes a warming room, scented mist and ambient music, is $90 for 20 minutes, though the partaker may choose to enhance the experience with a massage.
