Five Things You Should Know About Norwalk: Friday March 4

Here are some golden oldies of the past week, refried for your convenience, but close to their expiration dates.

  1. 12:30 p.m. — David Rosenberg, theater critic for The Hour, speaks today at the Lifetime Learners Institute lecture held in 's PepsiCo Theatre. His subject: "How to Enjoy the Theater." Rosenberg,  an award-winning critic, also writes for Back Stage in New York, was one of the founders of the Connecticut Critics Circle and is affiliated with Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and the American Theatre Critics Association, according to the institute. He's worked at CBS Television in New York and taught English and drama at local high schools and at Fairfield University. Rosenberg has directed over 50 plays and musicals.   2. 6 p.m. — The "Taste of Norwalk," a fundraising event to benefit the Norwalk Education Foundation, will be held tonight from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Aitoro Home Appliance, 401 Westport Ave. Tickets are $40 in advance, $45 at the door. For registration and information, click here.
  3. Saturday — Everybody's welcome to attend the Mardi Gras Celebration & Pot Luck Supper at 5:30 p.m. today at in East Norwalk.  Plenty of fun for all, with special activities for children. Attendees are encouraged to wear green, gold or purple; other costumes are optional.  The event is free; call (203) 866-7442 for more information.
  4. Sunday — Do you exercise indoors? Play tennis? Do Zumba? You can do it for a cause on Sunday and there's still time to register. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. various fitness fanatics will work up a sweat and raise funds to fight breast cancer  as part of SpinOdyssey, a fundraising event  at , a health club at 490 Westport Ave. Herman Walker will be giving a two-hour kickboxing class, 9-11 a.m. The money goes toward breast cancer research as well as patient and family support services.
  5. Through Saturday (for Westport) — You have one more day to take advantage of Restaurant Week in Westport (and one more week to take advantage of it in Stamforddetails here.). For entres: Lunch: $10.11 or $15.11. Dinner: $20.11 or $30.11. Here's more information on the event in Westport.
