Their Halloween Happening series of kid-friendly events begins 7 p.m. on Friday with the free "Halloween Haybale Theater" movie "Eloise's Rawther Unusual Halloween," followed by more movies for kids on Fridays through October. Stew's will also have a "Hayride Spooktacular" starting this coming Monday, a "15-minute family-friendly hayride that weaves through a course of more than 20 vignettes," according to the store. It costs $1 per person.
  2. The Tenth Annual Festival of Lighthouses Contest has begun at the . "This special exhibit will place 24 lighthouses throughout the aquarium during the holiday season and Aquarium visitors will follow these hand-crafted beacons through the galleries and then may cast a vote for their favorite, " per the Maritime website. The builder of the lighthouse with the most votes will receive $1,500. Second place will receive $750, third place $375, fourth place $300, fifth place $225 and $150 for sixth place. Entry forms are being accepted until October 21.

According to the Health Department, "Flu shots through the Health Department are covered by Medicare Part B, ConnectiCare, and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Residents with this insurance coverage are asked to bring their insurance cards for verification of benefits. Otherwise, standard seasonal flu shots cost $25 per person."
