Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: September 14

Norwalk living history tour, plus more.

  1. The will present , on Sunday, Sept. 18 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m." The tour will be a trip through the town’s early history." The cost is $50 for members and $55 for non-members. The tour bus is sold out, but if there are enough people interested, a second bus will run. (Also, see the Rowayton house tour, #5, below.)
  2. There is still time to register for the 2nd annual Spokes Ride. The event—founded by former New Canaan resident benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, you have a choice of riding the 12-, 20- or 50- mile bike route. Ride for yourself, someone you know or for one of the by this disease.
  3. Thursday and Sept. 22 are the last days to join in the . "Sun, sea breeze and beautiful wildlife make a perfect combination and that's just what the Norwalk Seaport Association offers up in its bird-watching." The tour departs from the Sheffield Island Dock and you will sail aboard the 42-foot C. J. Toth Quest catamaran for a three-hour cruise from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Your director pointing out all the sites and birds will be "Larry Flynn, a master wildlife conservationist with the state's Department of Environmental Protection he's also a native Norwalker and a boater and he knows the Norwalk islands intimately."
  4. is this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Mead Park in New Canaan. "This is a doubles tournament for all ages, and any gender - including mixed, husband/wife & parent/child. For only $40/team you get breakfast, lunch, and refreshments all day. We also supply the balls, and trophies.   5. The 2nd Annual Rowayton House Tour will be held on Friday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and cost $45 in advance and $55 the day of the tour. In addition this year a boxed lunch at beautiful Roton Point will be provided for an additional $15 and tickets for the lunch must be purchased by this Friday.
