Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: May 9

Symphony, Cancer Walk/Run, CL&P, Comics and Scholarships

  1. May is National Electrical Safety Month. Here is another safety tip from Connecticut Light & Power: "Watch for power lines when sailing or bringing your boat ashore. Lower the mast when pulling the boat on a trailer to avoid contact with power lines along the road."
  2. Do you know what Marvel and DC are? They are the Chevrolet and Ford of comic books. Saturday, May 14 this American art form will be yours for the taking. That's right it is Free Comic Book Day. Visit , 197 Westport Avenue and get your hands on 30 or so comics that will be available for giveaway.
  3. Don't forget is Saturday, May 14 at Calf Pasture Beach. All proceeds will benefit patient care initiatives, innovative therapies, research, clinical trials and extensive support services.
  4. If you forgot to give that Mom in your life a gift it's not too late. Get glammed up and join the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra Saturday, May 14 for their Gala and Concert. Enjoy fine food and the enchanting music of the symphony musicians accompanied by "guitar virtuoso Jorge Caballero and violinist Maria Conti in Astor Piazzolla's "Double Concerto for Guitar and Violin" masterpiece."
  5. Are you in college? A junior or senior? Studying in the environmental field? Then check out the scholarships available through The Norwalk Garden Club. They are looking for students entering their junior or senior year with a 3.0 GPA, in financial need and pursuing study in environmentally related fields. Application deadline is July 1.
