Five Things You Need to Know About Norwalk: May 31

Today we have information on an upcoming Stepping Stone Museum program, desserts, AC tips, the Maritime Aquarium and Water Trails Month.

  1. Beginning June 18 will have a new exhibit that will run until Labor Day, called "access/ABILITY." The museum website explains it as a highly engaging and interactive exhibit promoting disability awareness. The exhibit presents people living with disabilities as participants in the world. It celebrates the different capabilities in all of us, dispelling myths and encouraging open questioning and curiosity.
  2. Now that the weather has finally turned hot and humid here are two more tips from the state Consumer Protection Department to keep cooler and save on air-conditioning costs: 1) "Installing an air conditioner in a shady spot could increase its efficiency up to 10 percent." and 2) "Postpone your use of appliances until early morning or late evening. Your air conditioner won't have to work as hard to offset the heat produced by the appliances."
  3. The will host a car show on Saturday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. which can be a prelude to the movie "Fast Five" at the IMAX theatre at 4 or 7 p.m.
  4. June 1 is the start of the Fourth Annual Connecticut Water Trails Month. There will be many events taking place across the state ranging from paddling trips on Connecticut’s Blue Trails, Paddling Demo’s—try out a canoe or kayak - paddling classes and Water Trail Projects. 
  5. Join Fritz Knipschildt, Master Chocolatier of at Clarke Culinary Center in SoNo on Thursday, June 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. He will enlighten you with ways of making fresh, easy and delicious desserts.
